Evanescence’s Amy Lee drops a surprising F-bomb when discussing her band’s new album: “The record isFUN — and that’s a totally new thing for us,” she tells SPIN. How much fun? Lee also emphasizes how, despite her much publicized fallouts with ex-band members over the years,Evanescence is a truly collaborative effort: “Everyone being a part of this album, from the ground up, is an entirely new approach for us. “It’s one of the most important songs on the record to me because it was one of the first written and it set a heavy direction for the rest of the record.” WILL HUNT, DRUMS: ”NEVER GO BACK”
“This song for me has all the elements of a band who know who they are, but aren’t afraid to push the envelope and take risks. This tune is my fave on the record because it’s heavy and uncompromising, but beautiful and epic at the same time. It really takes me on an emotional roller coaster.” TROY McLAWHORN, GUITAR: ”THE CHANGE”
“It has a whole different feel without going too far away from what fans of the band would expect from us, while it opens the door for us to explore music that is more groove-based. I love the way the verse is subdued and almost has a reggae feel, and then opens up into a massive chorus. When we get to the bridge, it’s full on rock with a tinge of a metal. If we tried to write it with those parameters in mind it never would have happened. That’s why I love it!” TIM McCORD, BASS: ”THE OTHER SIDE”

After four years away from music, Amy Lee is back – with a new band (co-founder Ben Moody left after 2003's Fallen). "I was trying to find myself," the singer says. "I just needed to be normal for a bit." On Evanescence's third LP, Lee added an electro-pop twist to her signature doomy sound. "I started getting inspired by MGMT, and I've always loved Portishead and Massive Attack," she says. "I finally found the sweet spot when I combined those with Evanescence."

It's been a long five year wait, but multi-platinum rockers Evanescence are finally back. Amy Lee and company are set to release their self-titled third full-length album on October 11 via Wind Up Records.

Lee has made it clear, more than anything, this record is about the band: "This whole record and the lyrical content...is about falling back in love with this thing, with Evanescence, with what I've obsessed over for a decade, longer than that."

Last week the band unveiled the striking video for the album's first single "What You Want."

“(…) A major highlight was the time I spent with our Italian fans in Milan. The majority of the people there were from Evanescenceville (evanescencewebsite.com grrrrrrrrr), which for those of you who don’t know, is one of our most dedicated and supportive fan-run clubs in the world. Once they pooled their money and bought Terry a guitar and me a corset (not cheap items! We rocked both on stage that night), and when we played in Italy during the Open Door era, they had bought a star and named it “Evanescence” in honor of the song “Your Star!” We arranged to have a meet and greet and listening session of a handful of tracks from the new album. I love doing this, I love seeing the reactions of people hearing music for the first time and hearing which songs they liked the best. Anyway, I started by coming in and giving a little introduction, I had nothing prepared and just started talking about how much the Italian fans mean to me, and I totally choked up. Federico (the leader of the club and one of my favorite fans EVER) caught me in a big hug and I’ll never forget the moment. Somebody took an awesome picture and sent it to me, I’ll be posting it here soon. (…)

in my opinion there wasn't lots of deferents and the litlle ones wasn't because of the mariage. now amy lee is really happhy coss she's maried with josh hatjher and they are enjoying the mariage or not? was the new song's meaning about her whole life excpierience? in that case she is happy (as i hope) in the other case something is not going verry well she sad for something but no course not lokk at her interviews of 2011 look how happy she is:) as she is happy I'm happy as well. forget to say that she said that she looked again at her old song and she said at endings of 2010 (remember that she she loves that songs that she was always really dramatic a litle while before what you want release (9 of august 2011) she said that she was always tha dramma qween. the new album is not gonna be as sad as the others but it's again me it's evanescence and it rocks hard amy lee said
